Sandhill Farm Airfield
Take flight in our Flying Lesson over Oxford where you get a 1-on-1, tailored, hands-on flying lesson whilst sightseeing Oxfordshire’s iconic landmarks such as Oxford University and Blenheim Palace, home to Winston Churchill or have your world turned upside down in our aerobatic flight experience – not for the faint-hearted! Or take a step back in time and fly in a war-time RAF primary trainer, the Chipmunk. Power over the South Oxfordshire hills into Wiltshire and feel the capabilities of this fully aerobatic aircraft.
There are many things to spot whilst flying over Oxford from the distinct architecture of the 38 colleges, the busyness of Oxford Airport to the twists and turns of the River Thames. If you look out towards the west, you’ll be able to see the rolling hills of The Cotswolds, a perfect place to visit after your flight!
There are several RAF bases around Oxfordshire including the renowned RAF Brize Norton and home to RIAT air show, RAF Fairford! In our RAF Aerial Tour Experience, it is your chance to get a perfect photo opportunity of some of the UK’s biggest military aircraft….which not many people have that chance!
Our flying experiences are available all year round, depending on the weather, but we think the best time to take to the skies is probably Spring time because you will see the patch work of the fields coming to life and the famous confetti fields adding a sparkle of colour to the countryside.

What will I see during my flight?
Oxfordshire is a beautiful county to fly over, all from the rolling hills of the Cotswolds to the aerial view of the magnificent RAF bases (not many people get that opportunity!). Climb into the skies and see the prestigious University city come into view with the towering architectural buildings and the twists of the Thames, where you can go punting after your flight!
What happens after my flight?
Following your flight, your pilot will lead you back to the club house where you can grab a cuppa tea or coffee and have a sit down to reminisce what you have just experienced. If you have any questions to ask about flying then your pilot will be more than happy answer them.
Do I need to bring anything for my flight?
All you will need to bring is yourself and your Air Experiences voucher.
Don’t forget your camera – you need to show your friends what you have just done!
What should I wear for my flight?
We suggest for summer months to wear, light-weight clothes as it can get warm in the aircraft similar to a greenhouse! We also recommend to bring sunglass and a hat for those sunny days!
Ladies no skirts or dresses or heels as you’ll be climbing in and out of the cockpit
For winter months, bring a coat to keep you warm (you can always take it off).
For the aerobatic flight, you will be asked to wear a green flying suite
Are spectators welcome?
Friends and family are more than welcome to come along. They will be able to watch you and take photos of you getting comfortable into your plane. Your guests will then be able to relax in the club house and grab a cuppa tea whilst you go for your flight.
How long will my flight be?
You can choose either 30 or 60 minute flight where you will spend that selected amount of time in the air.
How old do you have to be for the flight?
For all the flights from our Oxford location, minimum age is 14yrs.
There is no maximum age, as long as the voucher holder is in reasonable health and mobility.
Who will be with me on the flight?
In all of the experiences there will be you and your pilot. Unfortunately the flights at our Oxford location do not allow you to bring friend as a passenger in the aircraft you will be in are only two seaters.
Will I get a go at flying the plane myself?
Certainly! You can do as much or as little flying as you wish. Your instructor will do the take-off and landing (they like that bit) but once in the air at some point during the lesson your instructor will ask if you want to take control of the plane. We have got to say it is definitely a bucket list must do!
